CARA SAMANTHA is a NYC based vocalist who's original music is the love child of Sara Bareilles, Norah Jones and Carole King. Cara got her professional start in the musical theater world, but spent the past several years in the recording industry as a backup singer and newly minted singer-songwriter. Most notably, she got to sing for Mariah Carey, Keith Urban, Nicki Minaj and Randy Jackson who gave her a golden ticket to Hollywood Week on Season 12 of American Idol!
Cara wrote her first songs in the Fall of 2011 and brought them to Dominic Fallacaro for musical input. Their dynamic and complimentary pairing proved to be a huge success and soon after, an EP was in the works. In February 2012, Cara began a crowd-funding campaign on Kickstarter to raise money to record the album, and in just two weeks, she exceeded her goal and raised $5,000 toward the EP. The album was recorded mostly in one day in April and fully mixed and mastered by June 2013 – just seven months after her first song-writing attempt.
A Long Island native, Cara always knew that she needed to sing. At the ripe old age of three, she sang her heart out to "New York, New York" à la Frank Sinatra on a cruise ship vacation. Though she grew up on the classics - Nat King Cole, Natalie Cole, Sinatra, Streisand, Ella - Cara began listening to and mimicking artists such as Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men. And while she was in her room belting out Hero, her older brother was just down the hall blaring Metallica and Guns ‘N Roses. Cara traveled the Caribbean as the frontwoman of a top-40's 5-piece band on Carnival Cruise Lines for nine months. She then went on to sing with artists in and around NYC. This eclectic mix of genre and style perfectly explains why her days vary from singing musical theater to soulful R&B.
